STA partners met in Chapada dos Guimarães, Mato Grosso, Brazil on September 9-11 for their annual meeting. The event marked a landmark in the consolidation of the Alliance. Discussion surrounded the development of low-emission rural development models, and the event served as a platform to exchange lessons learned from different regional models.
All member organizations were present at the meeting: Earth Innovation Institute, Instituto de Pesquisa Ambiental da Amazônia (IPAM), Instituto del Bien Común, Pronatura Sur, the Green Belt Movement, and collaborator VERTIC.
A sixth Alliance member was voted in during the annual meeting, Yayasan Penelitian Inovasi Bumi (INOBU), representing Indonesia. INOBU is the leading organization on jurisdictional certification for palm oil in the country, spear-heading it's efforts mainly in Central Kalimantan and West Papua.
