Pronatura Sur hosts workshop on Low-Emission Rural Development

As part of the set of actions to address climate change in the state of Oaxaca, Mexico, the State Government through its State Institute for Ecology and Sustainable Development (IEEDS), in cooperation with the National Commission on Knowledge and Use of Biodiversity (CONABIO) and STA member Pronatura Sur A.C., hosted the workshop Advancing Low-Emission Rural Development: A Territorial Vision on February 17th, 2016.

The workshop had the objective of building capacity of diverse sectors leaders on issues such as rural development, alternative models of agricultural production, rural vulnerability, and deforestation and ecosystem degradation.

Advancing Low-Emission Rural Development: A Territorial Vision was attended by 46 representatives of diverse sectors: forestry, agriculture, cattle ranching, aquaculture, and ecotourism. Participants came from both federal and state levels of government, academic institutions, as well as civil society organizations.
